Union Bank Recognised as an Exemplary Advocate for Gender Equality at The Gender Leaders Awards


Union  Bank of   Nigeria   has  received   recognition  for   its  contribution  toadvancing Gender Equality in the workplace. 


The bank won two awards at the Nigeria2EqualGender Leader Awards, in the ‘Gender Equality Champion’ and ‘Gender Diversity in SupplyChain’ category.The inaugural awards ceremony which held in Lagos was organised by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) in partnership with the Nigerian  Exchange  Limited (NGX) and aims to recognise and celebrate private sector companies and business leaders who havedemonstrated exceptional commitment and efforts in advancing gender equality.The   awards   served   as   a   recognition   of   the   significant   progress   made   by   the   banks   infostering gender equity and equality within the workplace, while supporting and empoweringwomen across all walks of life. The recognition  highlighted  Union Bank's commitment toadvocating for diversity within corporate organisations, cultivating an inclusive culture thatvalues and respects every individual.

Expressing   her   delight  for   the  notable   recognition,   Olufunmilola   Aluko,   Chief   Brand   andMarketing Officer, Union Bank, spoke on behalf of the bank during the awards ceremony.She said:“At   Union   Bank,   we   are   committed   to   bridging   gender   gaps,   particularly   within   ourorganisation. We recognize the power of collaboration and the transformative impact thatspecific, measurable, and time-bound goals can have on achieving gender parity in Nigeria'sprivate sector.

We remain steadfast in our commitment to scaling up our efforts for a moregender-balanced and prosperous future.”Union Bank has continued to champion the rights of women as enshrined  in the  UnitedNations Sustainability Development Goals of achieving gender equality and women/girl childempowerment.

The bank as a responsible corporate body has constantly led by example bygetting more people to recognise gender inequality and non-inclusion challenging them to beinvolved in changing the systems that perpetuate them.
