Tony Elumelu Jnr's Heirs Holdings 7 storey building on Ajose Adeogun St, VI have been sealed by men of Lagos State Building Collapse Agency, LASBCA for fear of collapse.
According to LASBCA, the multi-billion Naira valued headquarters of Heirs Holdings that houses many brands under the umbrella and owned by the billionaire banker is exhibiting signs of structural defect and failure.
According to observers, It would be the greatest relief for the suave banker and investor if the investigation wouldn't reveal far more than already suspected.
According to the General manager of LASBCA, Gbolahan Owodunni Oki, the building is suspected to be exhibiting signs of structural failure as preliminary investigations revealed that some floor tiles on the 4th floor of the 7 storey building have popped off along the expansion joints of the building.
He further stated that the building developer had attempted to cover the obvious defects in some parts of the building without carrying out a proper investigation. Which could have become a death trap. The building developer was already trying to affect clandestine repairs before the alert LASBCA revealed the defect with necessitated the clampdown on Heirs Holding and the sealing off of the building to carry out proper investigation to avoid what could become a disaster of unprecedented impact.
